Big Auction Daft
Ok guys i have a big auction draft this weekend(way to early) Nice thing about auction draft is you can get ANY player or players you are willing to bid on, That said the super STUDS(RB'S)go for a ton of money, Last year LT went for over have the auction money... Another guy in my league drafted LJ, & SA used most of his money, sat till the very end to fill the rest of his team out. My strategy has been to try and get a very well rounded team, i ended up with decent players but NO super stars that said i also ended up in the middle of the standings, I talked a little to Dave about this, What should i do this year STUD WR tend to go more reasonable, What my thinking is this year is to get a stud QB, (Peyton, Brady, Brees, Romo) try & get two Studs WR's T.O., Moss, Wayne, TJ, Colston, Ftizgerald..etc) a decent T.E. that brings me to my RB's what guys do you think i should target.. Guys like Lynch, Barber, Marroney.... Any thoughts??? I would love to land Westy but feel his price will be to steep
You won't be able to land Westy in all likelihood if you go for the stud QB & 2 stud WRs.
I like your strategy in getting a Tier 1 QB if the price is reasonable -- Drew Brees might be the best $ value & I think he's going to have a great season.
You should also get 1 stud WR at least (Braylon Edwards would be another good one).
If you think you can Westy or Addai at a decent enough price, I might target one of them next. If not, then getting another stud WR like Fitz or Colston would be good. I think Moss will cost too much...possibly TO, too.
In auction draft, I like to get stud guys who have value. As LT, A-Pete, etc. go for high $$$, maybe you can get Addai for decent $$$. With QBs, Brady & Manning will go very high, but maybe Brees or Romo won't be too bad. This is the type of strategy I like to take -- well-rounded with lower priced studs & good value guys like Thomas Jones or Rudi Johnson later to round out my team.
I hope that helps...

Thaas,
I'd try to get to get the stud QB, then one at WR and one at RB. I dont have any experience at auction drafts, but I'd try to spred the studs around and not load up at just one position, or you may be lacking at another position. If you can get two decent WR's and still end up with a Barber or a Portis or Lynch, I'd try to do that. Marroney is to much of a risk to spend your $$$ on.
thaas, I think both these guys have good ideas.
Your right they do.. Thanks Jetman , and csgigliotti!!! But come on big guy you must have a suggestion or two
Unfortunately, I really don't have any more advice than what we already discussed.
Get the elite QB since they don't go for nearly as much as the RBs, but still put up big points.
Get the elite WR (or get two) because they'll still outscore the other guys WRs and they don't cost nearly as much as the RBs
Get the elite TE for the same reasons as above.
Get the value as jets said.
Looking to me Gates is down a notch just because of his health?? Which IMO puts your man Witten at the TOP...
Yes, Witten is the undisputed #1 at this point IMO.
Jetman's TE Rankings:
1.) Jason "No Helmet" Witten
2.) Kellen Winslow
3.) Antonio Gates
4.) Tony Gonzalez
