more mocks
If you were at all interested in the other mock site I posted, I found a better one at cbssportsline.com. New ones run every 15 mins, and you can enter one that matches your own league specs. They run live and you're drafting with other people, not a computer program like the one at fantasyfootballxtreme.com They players info, if you click on the name, is current and up to date with up to date injure reports and in what round they player should possibly be drafted. Ive done a couple and am pretty happy...FYI

Thanks for the info, csgigliotti. I may check that out this week as I have 2 more drafts coming up soon. Tools like these do serve as great preparation & practice for your real drafts.
Thank you very much for the info!
I keep drafting and usually have no problem landing Julis Jones somewhere in either round 4 or 5. Does this sound about right? Shouldn't Jones have a decent year. He is pretty much the best I think I can anticipate getting 4th round... If I go RB, QB, WR, as my first three.
Gore is going, in most all the drafts I've done, around 7th or 8th in the 1st round.
In a couple ...guys are drafting Chris Johnson in the 10th or 11th. I'm hearing he is Reggie Bush like and will be used in the same manner Bush is used. I haven't heard much about him up to this point. Does anyone know anything about him?
Ive been off for the past few days in case anyone is wondering where I'm getting the free time to do numerous mock drafts
Julius Jones -- Dave & I particpated in a 14-team Mock Draft on behalf of the site...and we took him at the end of Round 5...the 70th. overall selection. In 10 or 12 team drafts, this would equate to a 6th/7th round selection. I think people are shying away from him since he wasn't an overly impressive runner for Dallas & he'll have some competition in Maurice Morris & TJ Duckett (goal-line). Personally, I think he's good value around the 5th or 6th round -- picking him in the 4th. may be a reach. There will probably be a few better RB options at that point.
Gore -- That sounds about right. In yardage-heavy leagues, Gore is my #6 RB. In TD-heavy leagues, I would have him around the #8 RB.
Chris Johnson -- I'll let Doomsday weigh in on him even further. He is very high on Johnson. This East Carolina back isn't very big, but he's extremely fast. He isn't the starting back in Tennessee, but he will be involved in the offense/special teams & is a playmaker. I think Doomsday would draft him sooner than the 10th. round. I believe the 10th/11th. round is about right for Johnson. He does have value, particularly if return yardage counts for individual players.
Thanks jets...I'm drafting 8th in my league next week. If I have to choose between Gore or Barber, who do I choose? I'm worried about Gore's tendency to get get injured, and his, as of yet unknown, role in a Martz offense or Barber, who also has worries of his own... his durability as a starter due to his reckless running style, and possibly losing touches to Felix Jones.
I like the practice a mock gives you...but it is leaving me with more questions
In most leagues, I like Gore slightly over Barber. I believe Martz is planning to utilize him much like he did with Marshall Faulk of the Rams. I see a good year for Gore from a total yardage perspective. He's a stud talent. I think the injury issue with him is a bit overblown. Early in his career, he did have the injury bug. However, I think he's only missed around 3-4 games in the last 2 years. His main issue is the 49er offense. It stunk last year & it impacted Gore's production. I'm thinking Martz will improve the attack in 2008.
Barber III will get more TDs in a better offense. However, he isn't without questions as you say. 1.) He's never been an "every down" back before & could have durability issues. 2.) Dallas has good RB depth with Felix Jones & Tashard Choice off the bench. I believe he won't get the combined yards that Gore will because he won't get the same # of total touches.
A tough call. They are both Top 6-8 RB studs. It's close. Unless your league is TD-heavy in points, I lean slightly to Gore.
thaas actually asked me about Chris Johnson in a private message and I'll tell you what I told him. Chris Johnson will bring to the league what everyone thought Bush would.
Johnson is a better runner. He runs between the tackles very well (as he's shown with several bursts up the middle). He's built more like a RB and doesn't shy away from contact. Bush is built more like a WR and plays more like one too. Johnson is just as good a receiver (in fact, he played some WR in college), and he is faster (ran an official 4.24 in the 40 at the combine). I believe he led the nation last year in all-purpose yards.
With the addition of Kevin Jones to Chicago, I no longer believe that Forte will get rookie of the year, I do believe Johnson is a true dark horse with a very real chance to get it. I'm not sold on L.White staying healthy or staying in shape. Johnson could get more offensive love as the season goes on.
So, as you can see, jets was right...I'm very high on hiim. However, I would not overdraft him. He is still in a committee and should be taken around the 9th or 10th round in standard scoring formats. In performance based leagues where big plays give big bonuses, he should be considered around 7th or 8th. I believe he's going to return kicks as well so in leagues that reward for return yardage he needs higher consideration as well.
I do agree with Dave, My only real question is i read Lendale White is still the starter & most likely will continue to be, Will Chris Johnson get enough carries to make a fantasy impact, in a non ppr league
That would be one question concerning Johnson. Right now, he's the back-up. However, he does have the opportunity to win the starting role if he can perform & Lendale White struggles or gets hurt. At the very least, it could end up being a RBBC.
The other question I have concerning Johnson has nothing to do with his ability. I believe the Tennessee passing attack is woeful. Vince Young has looked simply awful in preseason so far. The Titans are going to face a lot of 8-9 man fronts loaded to stop the run & short pass. That could make things difficult for any Tennessee RB.
It can make things difficult, but Ds really will be taking a chance if they have 9 men in the box. If Johnson gets through the line, it's a TD. Because of that, they won't be able to play quite as aggressively as they could with White in the backfield. That may create more opportunities for Johnson if White struggles to do anything under those circumstances.
In a non-PPR league, I wouldn't have him rated nearly as high because he is a backup to this point. If you're in a standard scoring league with no return yards and no PPR, you may want to rank guys like Stewart and Forte over Johnson at this point...but keep tabs on him.
Wow ...thank you guys thats some awesome perspective. I think I'm going to target Johnson in either the 9th or 10th, stick him on my bench and see whats shakes out. As far as Gore or Barber...who knows. I'm actually leaning towards taking Barber, cause I feel like I have a shot at the Barber/Romo combo. If they're both there at #8 it will be a tough choice though. I think Gore has more of an upside though.
Gore has more fantasy possibility because he's not in a committee and although Barber's been reported to be an every down back, the fact is the Felix Jones is too talented to sit on the bench and get 3 carries and 2 catches a game. From an opportunity standpoint, I think Gore is better.
However, since Barber is on such a better offense, I think in the end, he will be higher in fantasy points. It's probably one of the closest calls in fantasy.
I agree...
Again, I would really take the scoring into account. If it is a league with 6 pts/TD for RBs, but yardage counts 1 pt per 10 with some yardage bonuses & even PPR, I take Gore.
If it is a league with 6 pts/TD, but yardage points are only 1 pt per 20 with little/no yardage bonuses, I would take Barber.
If it's a combination of the 2 above -- too close to call. I'd probably slightly take Gore, but it's razor thin.
I believe Gore gets more yardage/touches & I believe Barber wins the TD battle. Close call...good luck with your decision.
