Can this last??
The Palm Beach Post reports RB Ricky Williams is listed as the #1 back on the Dolphins' latest depth chart. Ronnie Brown is #2. Whether it's because of Ronnie's thumb (he's wearing a cast) or that knee not being 100% yet, the plain truth is that Ricky is their best running back...
Wow is Ricky worth a spot?? I would have to drop Stewart or Forte, Ricky has looked decent in the preseason
Yes, pick up Williams immediately. He will be the starter this year.
If it is a keeper league, I wouldn't do anything. If it isn't a keeper league, I would probably drop Stewart & pick up Ricky.
I'm not sure having the Dolphin starting RB is all that valuable...but if he is the starter, you probably should add him for RB depth. Stewart won't be the starter for at least a few weeks into the season.
Dave are you serious?? And jetman what is the Crystal ball telling you??
The Crystal Ball is telling me that Ronnie Brown isn't healthy & may not be for awhile. Ricky Williams is the probable starter in Miami. I don't think he will put up great numbers by any means as I feel he has question marks & his team isn't very good. But, he should give you another RB starter for depth purposes.
The Crystal Ball also tells me that he's just ready for this season to start.
I love the Crystal ball Thanks
Considering what Ronnie Brown did last year with an even worse team, Ricky could put up some surprising numbers. Ever since Mini camp, they've said he has been the best player on the team, regardless of position....
I did look at his preseason average really looks good plus 2 tds in 2 games.. Run Ricky Run... Like Dave said Ronnie was doing awesome last league(leading league i think( before he good hurt
I'll grant both of you that Ricky has looked good in preseason. However, I'm not "buying" Ricky Williams here. I think he's flaky & can't handle adversity. Running well in the preseason is one thing...doing it in the regular season is quite another.
This is strictly an opinion, but I'll be very surprised if Ricky Williams has a good season. Ronnie Brown pre-injury was younger & much more talented than the current Ricky Williams IMO.
I don't think he reaches 800 yds. this year. He'll get hurt, get caught with drugs, or just struggle with a bad Dolphin team. I certainly could be wrong, but I'm not all-that-high on Mr. Williams. I think thaas should pick him up for RB depth & just in case he works out, but I don't believe ol' Ricky will be anything close to what Ronnie Brown did last season before injury.
Ricky Williams will do better than Stewart, Forte, L.White, and even Thomas Jones (that's right baby). Mark it down, you read it here first.
I can see him being better than Forte, White, and Stewart. Two of them are unproven rookies & L. White could be on a struggling offense with another rookie pushing him for carries.
BUT...did you say better than Thomas Jones? Hmmm...
If you want to have another "6 pack bet" on that happening, I'll do it in a split second. The Jets' revamped O-line is much better on paper than the Dolphins AND Thomas Jones is not a flake.
TJ struggled as teams didn't respect the Jets' long passing game last year. Who was the Jets QB last year when TJ struggled the most? Chad Pennington. Who is the probable Dolphin starter? That same Chad Pennington. TJ actually had his best games in the 2nd. half when Clemens was playing. At least he kept the defensive backs honest.
Good luck, Ricky. You'll need it...
I'll GLADLY give you 6 more Molson's if Ricky does better than TJ. I think you'll have to hope for a TJ injury for this to happen.
P.S. -- I hope I didn't just jinx Thomas Jones with this post.
Maybe I shouldn't put 6 beers on this one!
Of course you would love this bet. I'd prefer something a little more even, however, I feel so bad about demolishing your Kitna prediction with Romo, I don't mind giving you a charity bet this year if that's the bet you really want. You'll have no excuses if Ricky somehow pulls this one out.
So, looks like I'll be buying the beer next draft. At least you like the cheap stuff.
I certainly don't want any charity. I only want to take this bet if you truly believe Ricky Williams will do better than Thomas Jones.
We can think of something else if you wish. I'll leave it up to you.
If you still want to go ahead with this TJ vs. Ricky bet, it is a good thing I like "the cheap stuff". Tastes great, less filling is my motto!
With my luck, TJ would get hurt in Week 1 vs. those same Dolphins...
It's only a six pack so let's do it. No one can ever say I only take the safe bets...I don't know anyone else who'd take this.
I would agree with that...
I accept your bet & I wish you good luck...but not too good.
I hear that the 'fins are switching to field turf so Ricky doesn't light up the field at halftime.
That's good news for me then!
Just to make this bet clear, I don't think I will win and when it comes down to it, I don't believe Jones will have a year worse than Williams. I'm simply saying that it is a possibility and I think the possibility is strong enough it's worth risking a $5 bet (yeah, it is the cheap stuff). Hey, the odds aren't in my favor when I play blackjack at the casino, but I still do that!! Besides, I get to drink it with Jets during the next NFL draft so even if I lose, we're still having a couple beers so how bad can it really be.
Heck this is better then Jerry springer
thaas -- I've never been compared to Jerry Springer before...I'm speechless.
Doomsday -- An excellent point.
Besides, I'm gonna need free beer to get me through Draft Day 2009. After all, the Jets are going to lose their first round pick after Brett Favre leads them to a victory in Super Bowl 43.
There won't be much for me to watch in the first 4 hours or so...
P.S. -- No, Dave...I don't want to put a 6-Pack on the Jets winning the Super Bowl...in case you were wondering.
How bout 6 pak on the jets winning the division?? Heck i might want some of that
thaas -- LOL. The Crystal Ball & myself will have to think about that one.
The Patriots can't win the AFC East every year, can they?
Show some faith.. I believe that the Pats will struggle a bit and Favre & company will light things up.. Go Jets....
I just picked Ricky Williams in the 12th round of my draft at work. If he works out, that becomes one heck of a steal !!
Yes, that would be. I'm not a believer in Ricky Williams at all, but taking him in Round 12 is great value. Any starting RB in Round 12 is great value...
That would be.. You know BP as well as anybody, Is Ricky the kind of guy BP would use?? Seems like a strange relationship to me??
Laurence Maroney was taken one pick after my Ricky pick and Earnest Graham went in the 11th. This is a crazy league.
That is completely nuts. I've never heard of a fantasy draft where 3 starting RBs were taken in Round 11 or later.
I hated to say that
But i kind of what i was thinking...
I'll be doing a write up on it when it's done...you guys will find it interesting to say the least (hopefully that write up gets more responses than my last one did...otherwise, what's the point)
