Manning's knee having serious problems-- Be Careful
The National Football Post reports that quarterback Peyton Manning is having serious issues with controlling the swelling of his injured knee. It appears that the swelling becomes uncontrollable the more he moves the knee http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/2008/08/national-football-post-diner-talk-2/
I read a ton of stuff about his knee, be vary careful when drafting manning, IMO something is up, even his owner said he is NOT sure Manning will be week one starter, IMO Colts without Manning is huge for everybody, including fantasy owners
Thanks for the news, thaas.
Drew Brees looks like a better value to me each day. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up the top QB in fantasy football in 2008. You made a good move in your auction draft to get him.
It goes without saying that this would affect Wayne's value and Harrison's...who was already coming into this season as a question mark. Suddenly, the whole offense is a question mark. Does this hurt Addai, or help him?...and... do you still take Wayne in the 2nd round, if the knee thing becomes a factor?
At this point, I will give Peyton the benefit of the doubt that he'll at least be ready by Week 2. He is a tough guy who has rarely missed any NFL action in his 10 year career.
However, if information keeps coming in that it is a more serious injury, then csgigliotti brings up some great questions. Wayne, Harrison, and Addai's value take a pretty significant step down. Jim Sorgi as a QB is totally unproven in meaningful NFL action.
We'll all have to keep our eyes on this story in the next few days. Unfortunately, we probably won't know anything until all of our drafts are done. I have drafts next week, and I'm not going to let this affect my Colts' positions. If things change soon, however, it will have a major impact on my decisions.
I agree with Jetman, the thing at this point that scares me is i keep hearing things, plus i saw a interview with Manning and he used words like i think i will be ready, and somebody asked him if he was 100% sure & his answer was no, This has shades of the Marvin Harrison mess of last year??
This info is making some of us a little uneasy and rightly so. Addai's numbers are a given to drop off drastically as he's likely to become more involved in the offense as Westbrook was a couple years ago when McNabb went down. If Manning does start the season on the sidelines, Clark and Addai will be Sorgi's new best friends.
