The legendary Phillies announcer and voice of NFL films, Harry Kalas, was found passed out in a press box at Nationals stadium in Washington about an hour ago. He was rushed by ambulance to George Washington University Hospital and his situation has been described as serious.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Harry the K and his family.

The world of sports had suffered a huge loss with the passing of harry kalas. His voice is known world wide, and has been the only voice of the world champions phillies my entire life. He will be missed, but never even forgotten.

I totally agree. I'm not a Philadelphia fan, but I was a big fan of Harry Kalas. For my generation, he is the voice of NFL Films -- his work on Inside the NFL & NFL Game of the Week Highlights was superb. He carried on the tradition of the great John Facenda for football fans like me.

He will be terribly missed.

the voice of the phillies the voice of the NFL will be missed.. growing up in South Jersey one would hear Harry Kalas as you walk down the streets in those hot summer days.
he was my 2nd radio family my first was WOR Channel 9 in New York City and the Mets, Bob Murphy, Ralph Kaner, and Lindsey Nelson. this was when people were loyal to their team good or bad ,, now we have too many fair weather fans.Harry could not stand that. niether can I.
baseball and radio has sure change since the 70's Kalas put fun back in phillie baseball .. glad that he witness the 2 world series victories after those terrible 70's phillie teams

Nice post, GLC. I was born in New York in 1969 & lived there throughout the 70s before moving to North Carolina. I was a Mets fan as a kid & I grew up listening to Bob Murphy, Lindsey Nelson, & Ralph Kiner. I always loved to hear Bob Murphy say "Back with the Happy Recap after these messages" after a Met victory.

There aren't enough loyal fans & legendary voices on the radio like the old Mets radio/TV team, Vin Scully of the Dodgers, and the late great Harry Kalas of the Phillies. Harry will definitely be missed.
