Jets Draft Review

This is going to be short & sweet...much like the Jets' draft. The Jets clearly went for quality over quantity by making only 3 picks. The 3rd. pick is a Nebraska Guard that I know nothing about. Obviously, the key to the draft is Mark Sanchez. I thought it was a bold move by the Jets...and a good move. They made a mistake picking Kellen Clemens to be the franchise QB 2 years ago -- it was time to admit that mistake. You need an elite QB to realistically compete for a championship. Sanchez has a chance to be that elite QB.
This will either be a BOOM or BUST draft for New York depending on how Sanchez's career works out. I'm going to be positive & say that he'll be a great QB in the NFL for 10+ years. If so, this was an excellent draft for the Jets. We only gave up a 2nd. round pick & 3 expendable reserves that didn't fit into Ryan's new system. At this point, I'm a happy camper.
And...Thomas Jones better get his butt into camp because we got a talented RB in Shonn Greene from Iowa in Round 3. I love this guy -- looks very durable & will be a great compliment to Leon Washington in the future.
It may take a year or two to reap benefits, but I loved what the Jets did in the 2009 Draft. J E T S JETS JETS JETS!
I was one of many who questioned the USC QB for the NFL. For whatever reason, they never seem to achieve the same level in the pro ranks. But sanchez has gotten lots of praise from a few teams, and maybe he will be the guy to break that mold.
I do agree 100% Shonn Greene could be a steal in the 3rd round. He is a great, very coachable player who WILL fit in the pro game and give the jets a very nice addition at RB
Overall, your jets did well, Im not into how many, but WHO. The jets filled needs, and were able to pick quality players. Job well done!!!
The defense has improved and should be steller this season. The addition of Greene looks to be a good one not only to help motivate Jones but also in terms of the future as TJ isn't getting any younger. Lopez won't be relied on to win games as defense and that running game should accomplish that. If he can make good decisions, take care of the ball, and make an occasional big play, the Jets should be able to get to the playoffs and even inflict some damage once there.
Thanks, guys. I'm hoping Sanchez can take the Joe Flacco Ravens approach last year. Take care of the football & make good decisions...and the occasional throw when necessary. That formula got the Ravens to the AFC Title game with a rookie QB. Maybe it can work for the Jets in 2009-10 since our defense was upgraded with Bart Scott & Rex Ryan on board.

I don't know if Sanchez has enough experience to be the man from day 1. He could turn out to be exactly what you need. Shonn Greene could be awesome for the Jets.
