Five shots, Four boards, Five misses...

Villanova’s Cinderella run came to a screeching halt before 72,000+ fans at Ford Field last night. A team that knocked down three’s at a 35% clip all season long, could not buy a basket from that range (5 for 27) despite many open looks. A sequence occurring in the second half would tell the story of Villanova’s night.

JetsJetsJets' Crystal Ball -- Final Four Predictions

The Crystal Ball has a 9-3 record in picking NCAA games so far. We went 6-2 in the Sweet 16, and a respectable 3-1 in the Elite 8. We hope to improve on that record by correctly predicting two exciting Final Four games on Saturday. All four of these teams have a legitimate chance to cut down the nets on Monday evening at Ford Field. Here are our selections:

The Sports Bar checks in / Introduction / Future of the show

For those of you who followed our show for the past 51 shows, we thank you for taking the journey with me and my cohost Big P. As we announced on our Friday 3/27/09 show, Big P will be placing himself on hiatus for an indefinite amount of time which put me in the uncomfortable position of making a decision to go forward with the show or close the doors of the Sports Bar one last time that night.

JetsJetsJets' Crystal Ball Elite Eight Predictions

The Crystal Ball went 6-2 in his Sweet 16 Picks. There were four 2-seed vs. 3-seed games this week, and we went 2-2 (.500) in those games. We didn't forecast the Missouri upset of Memphis, and we were surprised at how Oklahoma easily handled the surging Syracuse Orange. The Top 4 seeds in the tournament all won their games which helped our record. Now...let's move on to the four games which decide who goes to the Motor City & the Final Four next weekend:

the sweet 16 is no longer sweet for mid majors

the NCAA made sure that big schools
would be at the dance this year.just look at the numbers
in the elite eight.
in 1996 there were 12 mid majors that came to the dance
next year the NCAA has already dropped hints that
they are only be selecting two mid majors..
this is not right or fair for all mid majors who have worked
so hard all season to get into the big dance
it is time to really
change march madness to either include everybody
or make the NIT really mean something
